We've Met Before - Ipswich Town



The first meeting between Chelsea and Ipswich Town took place at Portman Road on 2nd December 1961.


Ipswich Town won 5-2, their goals coming from Ray Crawford 3, Doug Morgan and Roy Stephenson. Chelsea’s scorers were Bobby Tambling and Bert Murray. The attendance was 22,726.


The return at Stamford Bridge took place on 21st April 1962.


Chelsea led 2-0 through Peter Brabrook and Barry Bridges but Ipswich Town responded with goals from Ray Crawford and a Ted Phillips penalty.

The attendance was 28,462.
