Football Museum visit throws up Chelsea surprises

On 3rd September 2024 Chelsea Heritage Partners Paul Waterhouse of Bygone Chelsea and Nathan Whitehouse from their sister group, the Chelsea Graves Society, visited the National Football Museum archive in Preston.

With the assistance of curator of the museum Dr Alexander Jackson, they spent a productive day meticulously sifting through ledgers containing all player registrations for Chelsea Football Club, and so far they have examined and recorded the first 75 years of our history.

This is anorak heaven for the pair and it’s already thrown up plenty of surprises! Still lots to be done to research previously unknown players but it was a very satisfying days work.

Watch this space as we uncover more about their important work documenting our club's illustrious past.
